Regis Forey Description

Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a single vineyard that takes up most of the vineyard holdings in the commune of Vougeot. The vines were planted between 1968 and 1972. The wine ages in smaller 228 liter barrels for 16 to 20 months, 50% of which are new. The original Clos Vougeot site was founded around 1110 AD by the local monks. It is only doing a small service to say this site is a Burgundy icon. When young, this Clos Vougeot is the most faulty. It is only with a few years in the cellar that this bottle will come into its own.

Here the nose is cool and clean with its ripe aromas of spicy and earthy red berries that are trimmed in generous but not overbearing wood toast. The wood extends to the palate as well of the detailed, vibrant and delicious larger scaled flavors that are shaped by firm yet refined tannins on the youthfully austere and nicely lingering finale.
