Merry Edwards' winemaker, Heidi von der Mehden, masterfully combines two-thirds Shenandoah (Clone 1) and one-third Sauvignon Musqué to create a wine overflowing with floral and tropical fruit aromatics, backed by a citrusy, juicy core. Barrel fermentation and twice-weekly lees stirring impart the characteristic creamy texture and rich body that fans of Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc have come to adore. Grapes are hand-picked and hand-sorted in the field before undergoing whole cluster pressing. The wine is then aged sur lie for 4 months, with 18% in new French oak, and batonnage performed twice per week.
