Jacques Carillon Chassagne-Montrachet pours a clear, pale lemon-yellow and opens with an inviting, expressive bouquet of light apple fruit. While it doesn’t quite reach the same level of tension as Puligny, it offers plenty of charm, with a touch of youthful bitterness balanced by good length and freshness on the palate. Bright, approachable, and easy to enjoy, this is an attractive white Burgundy that shines with seafood, roast chicken, or simple, elegant dishes that let its lively character take center stage.
A slightly riper nose reflects notes of petrol, white peach and rosemary oil. There is more size and weight to the richer, even opulent and generously proportioned, medium weight flavors that terminate in a bitter lemon-inflected, attractively dry and long if mildly rustic finale.
The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a little more energy than the Puligny Village at the moment. The palate is well balanced with a keen line of acidity, dried honey and light walnut notes with more complexity on the finish. This is a step up from the Puligny.
Notes of peach, bread dough and brewers yeast introduce the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village, a medium to full-bodied, fat and ample white produced from vines planted in 2013.
