Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras stands out with the darkest color in the cellar, featuring a deep, almost black core that hints at its power. The nose shows a touch of vegetal reduction at first—something that should fade with time—before revealing darker fruit, spice, and blackberry notes. Nearly 14% in alcohol, the palate is generously filled with rich fruit, offering depth and intensity, even if this vintage leans a bit away from classic Chambolle delicacy. Bold yet refined, it’s a compelling match for hearty dishes like roast duck, grilled meats, or richly flavored fare that can meet its depth head-on.
The 2021 Chambolle-Mussigny Les Cras 1er Cru has quite a stern nose, plenty of mineralite and terrior expression here, a mixture of red and blac fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly candied red fruit on the entry, brown spices, hints of liquorice towards the finish with fine persistence.
