The Chaos Theory Proprietary Red by Brown Estate is a stunning and complex wine that showcases the artistry of its winemaker, David Brown. This wine began as a one-off blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, but over time it has become a shape-shifter, with each vintage being its unique blend.
This red blend is composed of Howell Mountain Zinfandel, Oak Knoll Merlot, Coombsville Cabernet Franc, and Calistoga Sangiovese, all sourced from Napa Valley. After 10 months of aging in 30% new oak barrels (50/50 French/American), this wine is ready to be enjoyed now, but can also be cellared through 2035.
The Chaos Theory Proprietary Red displays a deep crimson core with a garnet rim. On the nose, it exhibits delicate floral notes of lily of the valley and banana blossom, along with tropical fruit aromas of passion fruit and papaya, with hints of allspice. Secondary notes of blueberry and boysenberry brioche, warm blackberries with maple sausage, Meyer lemon zest, traces of eucalyptus, and cocoa add complexity to this intriguing blend.
