What sets Maker's Mark Private Selection apart is the involvement of participants in our exclusive barrel program. They have the privilege of handpicking the combination of five flavor profiles for the finishing staves. With an astonishing 1,001 possible combinations, every expression of Private Selection delivers a personalized finish and a taste that is unmistakably Maker's.

The aging process involves 5 3/4 to 7 years of meticulous maturation, followed by an additional 9 weeks in cold conditions inside barrels infused with the chosen combination of staves. This careful attention to detail creates a bourbon that is truly exceptional in character and complexity.

The Maker's Mark, wood-finishing series was created to explore new, unique expressions of signature whisky. Beginning as fully matured Maker's Mark at cask strength, Private Select is created by adding 10 custom wood finishing staves to each barrel. It's then aged in a limestone cellar to extract a unique, flavorful taste profile. Participants in this special barrel program get their say in the selection of these wooden staves. We picked 1 Baked American Puree, 3 Maker's 46, 3 Roasted French Mocha and 1 Toasted French Spice stave. The result: baked apples covered in melted dark chocolate with mocha accents, wrapped in a delicious spicy orange peel. Only 240 bottles made. When they are gone, they are gone for good!
