The nose of the Jefferson Reserve emanates a potent vanilla aroma layered with a soft alcohol scent. At first sip, the most notable characteristic of the Jeffersons is it exceptionally sweet profile. The sugars eased from their barrels during maturation take center stage, leaving an almost candied vanilla taste on the palette. Following the sweetness, there is a noteworthy, yet mild combination of subtle fruit notes comprised of both dates and oranges. The finish is moderately long with the aforementioned sweet profile spanning from front to back. At 45.1 % ABV, the Jefferson Reserve is right in line with other high quality handmade bourbons, striking a nice balance between the spirits bite and its syrupy sugars.
