The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Single Vineyard Mount Veeder has plenty of gravelly earth and loamy soil nuances as well as chocolate, red and black fruits, and savory spices. This big, medium to full-bodied, structured wine has serious tannins and is going to benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age

This tightly wound and firmly tannic mountain-grown wine needs lots of time to mellow for good drinking. The sandy tannins and rather tart, tight blackberry and cranberry flavors give it plenty of grip on the palate and will preserve it while aging further. Best from 2029.

From another part of the Chandon property, now being redeveloped under a 50-year lease, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder Estate features bold cassis fruit, with herbal, sage-like complexities. This medium to full-bodied effort is firmly tannic but ripe, with a lingering, fruit-filled finish. Give it a few years in the cellar, then drink it over the next 15 years or so.
