Jean Marc Pillot Description

Experience the enticing charm of Jean Marc Pillot Bourgogne Rouge Les Grandes Terres, a captivating red wine crafted from 65-year-old Pinot Noir vines in Remigny. Revel in its succulent wild berry flavors, energetic tannins, and silky smooth finish, perfectly paired with a variety of dishes.

Jean Marc Pillot's Bourgogne Rouge Les Grandes Terres is a true delight for the senses. This richly colored, full-bodied wine exhibits a tantalizing bouquet of ripe wild berries and fragrant spices. On the palate, the wine offers an exuberant, seamlessly integrated medley of rustic, wild berry fruit and vibrant silkiness. The wine's lively tannins and enduring finish make it an unforgettable tasting experience.

Jean Marc Pillot Bourgogne Rouge Les Grandes Terres is a versatile companion to a wide array of dishes. Its bold fruit flavors and energetic tannins make it an ideal pairing with hearty meat dishes, such as beef bourguignon, roasted lamb, or grilled pork tenderloin. The wine's bright acidity and robust character also complement earthy vegetarian dishes, like wild mushroom risotto, truffled potato gratin, or roasted root vegetables. For a delightful cheese pairing, enjoy this Bourgogne Rouge with aged Gruyere or nutty Comte.

Produced from a parcel of 65-year-old Pinot Noir vines in the village of Remigny, Jean-Marc Pillot's Bourgogne Rouge undergoes a meticulous vinification process. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in stainless-steel tanks after partial destemming and a 4-5 day cold soak. Pneumatic pressing and whole-cluster direct pressing precede a 12-month élevage in neutral 228-liter oak barrels. The wine is then transferred to stainless-steel tanks for an additional 3-6 months, ensuring a harmonious blend of flavors and a memorable finish.

Staff Rated: 91 Points

This little red is a favorite of ours for its rustic, wild berry fruit and ebullient palate presence. The vineyard is located south of Chassagne in the town of Remigny. Some of the vines are quite old, approaching the 60-year mark (as of 2012).
