The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet that seems to spring forth with aeration, offering blackberry, raspberry and cassis aromas laced with popourri and subtle earthy notes. Palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a find bead of acidityand well-integrated new oak. This is promising.
Cécile Tremblay sources her grapes from a 0.47ha parcel located at the entrance to the painterly village of Chambolle Musigny. Fermented with 30% whole bunches and aged in 20% new wood, this is a fine, detailed, silky Premier Cru with supple raspberry fruit, a patina of vanilla and nutmeg spice and the fine-grained tannins that are the hallmark of her wines.
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes is also showing especially well this year, exhibiting aromas of raspberries, candied peel, licorice, rose petals and rich soil tones, framed by a deft application of creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety and textural, with a fleshy and enveloping attack, fine depth at the core and a long, nicely defined finish. This is a gourmand Feusselottes from Tremblay, but it's beautifully balanced.
