This is one of the most beautiful Insoglios I have tasted with lots of blue fruit, such as blueberries, as well as violets. Medium body and firm, silky tannins. Very fine and linear. Syrah, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and petit verdot.

From an estate located in Bibona, the 2023 Insoglio Del Cinghiale is a youthful magenta/red color. On the nose, it’s fruity and floral, with aromas of currants, mixed berries, fresh flowers, and fresh earth. Full-bodied, it offers plush tannins, balanced richness without feeling heavy, and even acidity. It’s a cut above for the entry to the range and should drink well over the coming 8-10 years.

The historic label from the Tenuta di Biserno group, the Campo di Sasso 2023 Insoglio del Cinghiale has a balanced bouquet of dark fruit that cedes to savory spice and sweet tobacco. The wine is well made and is very satisfying, especially if you are in the search for a more accessible and well-priced Bordeaux-inspired red from sunny Tuscany. The fruit is black and ripe, with baked plum and blackberry. The blend is Syrah, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
