Founded in 2000 by Spanish entrepreneur Jose Manual Ortega Gil-Fournier, Bodegas y Vinedos O. Fournier is comprised of estate vineyards in Argentina’s Uco Valley, Chile’s Maule and San Antonio Valleys and Spain’s Ribera del Duero region. They produce a range of high quality wines from superior vineyard sites using a blend of traditional and modern technology. Chief Winemaker Jose Spisso oversees the winemaking for all three estates. O. Fournier produces four different levels of wine differentiated by their origins, aging regimens, styles and price points. The Urban range presents fresh, modern, fruit-driven wines aged in oak barrels for three months. The B Crux (Argentina), Centauri (Chile) and Spiga (Spain) wines are aged 12 months in new and first use barrels and 6-12 months in bottle. The Alfa Crux (Argentina), Alfa Centauri (Chile) and Alfa Spiga (Spain) wines are aged for approximately 18 months in new barrels and 12 months in bottle. The top tier wines, labeled simply as O. Fournier, are a special selection produced only in exceptional vintages and in very small quantities. O. Fournier owns three estate vineyards in Argentina located nine miles from the base of the Andes Mountains Finca Santa Sofia, Finca San Manuel and Finca San Jose. A total of 232 acres are planted to vines on well draining rocky and sandy soils. Finca Santa Sofia (182 acres) is planted to Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Verdot and Gewurztraminer. With the exception of Malbec, the vines originate from France and Italy and were grafted onto American rootstock. They are planted in the traditional bush vine method in order to ensure lower yields, more concentrated aromas and greater structure. Finca San Manuel (19 acres) is planted with Tempranillo and Malbec. Finca San Jose (17 acres) is planted to Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Winemaker Ramiro Balliro is assisted by Jose Spisso, Head Winemaker for O. Fournier.
Tasting notes
Ripe aromas of dark berry fruit, cigar box, violet and dark chocolate mingle with mocha and smoked meat flavors. A full-bodied wine, displaying edgy tannins and a long finish.

Wine Advocate 92 points (Dec 2010)
The O. Fournier 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon (50%)-Syrah (50%) spent 20 months in new French and American oak before bottling without fining or filtration. It is deep purple in color with legs that coat the glass while displaying an enticing nose of cigar box, pencil lead, smoked meat, violets, black currant, and blueberry. Plush and mouth-filling, it has excellent volume and balance with enough structure to evolve for several years. It will offer a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2021.
 Wine Spectator 92 points (Oct 15 2012)
This rich red mixes juicy black cherry, blackberry and spicy plum notes with fine-tuned layers of mesquite, game and mocha notes. Well-built, displaying fine tannins and a long, minerally finish. Drink now through 2016. 200 cases imported. –NW

Technical notes
(50% Syrah/50% Cabernet Sauvignon). A seven day cold soak was followed by fermentation and maceration on the skins lasting 28 days. The wine aged for 20 months in new French (80%) and American oak (20%) and was bottled without fining or filtration.
