Strong Cabernet aromas of black cherry, anise and dark cocoa are enhanced by a hint of vanilla. Medium-bodied flavors show fully ripe, earthy Cabernet fruit with a hint of dusty minerals. Moderate acidity, medium tannins and a touch of new oak highlight the fruit beautifully. Flavors show fine depth and structure thanks to the year's long growing season and outstanding fall weather.
Tasting notes
The Rutherford exhibits cedar, coffee and dark berry notes along with a dense ruby/purple color, a nice texture and a style that is somewhat of a throwback to the BV Cabernet Sauvignons made in the sixties and seventies. With pure fruit as well as an endearing texture, this is a beautiful wine to drink over the next 10-15 years.

 wd 90 points
This medium-weight version offers a firmly tannic profile of dusty berry from the get-go. Turns dryer on the finish, ending with an edge of cedar and chicory. Drink now. 35,000 cases made.-JL
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford represents a beautiful value with notes of dusty, loamy soil, dark black cherries, black cassis, cedarwood and Christmas fruitcake. Fleshy, round and sexy, it should drink well for 8-10 years.

Wine maker notes
Grapes from sites throughout Napa Valley were harvested at optimal maturity, then de-stemmed and gently crushed into open-top stainless steel fermenters. Fermentation lasted 7-10 days, reaching a peak juice temperature of 80 F, before pressi_level2ng off at dryness. Fifteen percent of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel, contributing to a richer mid-palate texture and well-integrated new oak component. The wine was further aged in a variety of oak barrels prior to blending and bottling for 18 months in American and European oak barrels.
