Aroma: As always this Chianti features a deliciously vinous bouquet, where the floral and fruity notes lead towards a finish of slightly spicy scents of wild cherry and hazelnuts.

Tasting profile: Medium-bodied, Chianti Ruffino is pleasantly fruity, harmonious and persistent.

This wine was first produced by winery founders Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, and for over a century it has been a benchmark for the entire Chianti category.

Chianti wine was traditionally known for its "fiasco" - its characteristic straw bottle which was shaped like the goatskin wine container that a man living in the Middle Ages would have slung from his saddlebow. Ruffino made international headlines and single-handedly updated Chianti's image by replacing this traditional straw flask with a refined Florentine bottle in 1975. This bottle is a unique Ruffino trademark.

VINIFICATION AND AGEING
The grapes were harvested beginning from the end of September. Alcoholic fermentation, usually aided by racking and punching down, continued for about 2 weeks at an average temperature of 26°C in temperature-controlled stainless-steel and concrete vats. The wine is aged for 4 months in stainless steel and concrete vats and then in bottle.
