With the warmer weather of summer upon us our dining opportunities include ‘al fresco’ and enjoying a leisurely meal outdoors. Now is the time to take advantage of the evening hours outdoors and prepare foods on the grill.

In this seminar and tasting we present a selection of versatile Italian wines that will pair wonderfully with a selection of grilled foods, from a welcoming aperitivo to encourage your appetite or welcome guests to full-bodied red wines that complement a luscious steak.

Tasting notes
Prosecco Spiritz, with Campari and Aperol> This is the quintessential aperitivo in Italy, recommended when preparing for the grilling session!

Zardetto Brut Prosecco di Conegliano DOC (Veneto, Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene)
Crystal clear with a hearty white foam and fine effervescence. Fresh fragrant aromas, a delicately soft and harmonious taste are the hallmarks of this quintessential aperitif wine.

Suggested pairing: As an aperitivo, while preparing everything and receiving guests, or with grilled vegetables, salads, grilled radicchio, caprese salad, grilled salmon or tuna, grilled branzino, grilled chicken. Prosecco is a wine to be enjoyed in the company of friends served with shellfish or in the local way with tasty fried fish.

Kris Pinot Grigio 2010 (Veneto)
Pale yellow in color with greenish reflections. The nose recalls acacia flowers and the delicate scent of almonds. Clean and refreshing on the palate with hints of linden and honey.

Suggested pairing: Fresh seafood, grilled calamari, grilled fish, risotto dishes, grilled white meats.

Argiolas Costamolino DOC (Sardinia)
Full bodied but refreshing Vermentino from Sardinia. The property owned by Antonio Argiolas is located about fifteen miles from Cagliari, Sardinia`s capital. Antonio and his sons, Franco and Peppetto, have worked hard to fullfill their commitment to become leaders in Sardinian enology. With their experience, the Argiolas family has been able to incorporate the use of modern technology into their traditional winemaking processes. Their innovative philosophy is a proud example of high standards in quality.”

It is versatile red, quite innovative in style and adapts easily to various dishes and can be drunk litghtheartedly with great pleasure.

Suggested pairing: Lighter grilled meats: veal chops, grilled sweet sausages, hamburger, cheeseburgers. chicken.

Argiolas Costera IGT (Sardinia) The intense, ruby red color of this wine tends toward orange with age. The full bouquet of sweet black cherry, pepper, and licorice is typical of the Cannonau grape. Warm and full bodied on the palate with excellent texture, ripe fruit flavors and pleasant tannins.

Suggested pairing: Lamb chops, grilled sausages, roasted pork loin.

Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre 2008 IGT (Veneto)
This blend of 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese is a smooth, full-bodied cru made in an innovative ripasso style. After the harvest, the grapes from the Palazzo della Torre vineyard follow two different paths: while 70% of the grapes are vinified immediately after the harvest, the remaining percentage is dried until the end of December. At this point, the wine ferments again with the dried grapes. This wine will age easily for 8-10 years. Deep ruby red in color, it has a delicious red berry perfume, with hints of raisins and plums.
