Nama Byzantino is a unique and highly sought-after red wine that is exclusively used for communion by the Greek Orthodox clergy. The wine is made from the finest Muscat Tyrnavos grapes, known for their characteristic sweetness and fruity flavor. What sets Nama Byzantino apart is its light garnet color, light body, and complete lack of oak aging.
The winery is dedicated to producing the finest representation of wine for the sacrament of the Eucharist. We pursued high sweetness to maintain the stability of the wine against refermentation, without needing the addition of other substances. We also aimed to create an ecclesiastic wine with the smallest possible values of acidity to ensure it is ideal for long-term use.
With only natural sugar grapes used, the Nama Byzantine contains 310 gr/lit of sugar and has a low alcohol content of 10% Vol. Its total acidity is 3.65 gr/lit, and its pH is 3.55. This wine is perfect for those who want to enjoy a sweet, fruity wine without the headache associated with higher alcohol content.
Nama Byzantino has a fruity and slightly sweet taste with a characteristic aroma of Muscat grapes. It is light in body and has a dark garnet color. The wine is completely unoaked, allowing the natural sweetness and fruity flavor of the grapes to shine through.
